LET ME SAVE YOU………………

Let me save you a lesson in business,

SUPPLY AND DEMAND

There is a reason it is the oldest profession in the world.

And it’s not soon coming to an end,

We serve and address an apparently basic need.

For it there is an insatiable demand,

Hate it or love it, the niche must be filled.

Let me save you a lesson in risk management,

RISK IS UNAVOIDABLE,

A risk factor is present in every business engagement,

For many a service, it is the assurance of payment,

But riskier still is an especially stubborn ailment,

Reality strikes when faced with forced early retirement,

And you realize not everything has a replacement.

Let me save you a lesson in sales and distribution,

AVAILABILITY

The success of any venture is in the service’s availability,

That’s why we are not just at the street corner but everywhere, magic word. Accessibility

And when it comes to sexuality,

It is also important to note that you must have flexibility,

You can never overlook variety.

Let me save you a lesson in marriage counseling,

SERVICES ARE SOUGHT NOT DELIVERED,

It’s not the other way around darling,

The things we can do you wouldn’t dare think of doing,

And no they would never dare think of asking,

Because you have to be lower than the lowest thing,

To give in n say, “Sure honey”, to anything.

Let me give you a lesson in religion,

WHATEVER YOU SOW, THAT YOU SHALL REAP,

For every action there is a reaction,

I sell this temple for a portion,

Food, shelter, clothing, possessions, promotion,

The holies speak of perfume anointing, hair drying, feet kissing redemption,

For me below awaits the legion.

Let me save you a lesson in fault finding,

THINGS ARE NEVER AS THEY SEEM,

It has been said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions,

People do strange things for stranger reasons,

You are quick to point out other options,

But you conveniently forget to give the solutions,

Contrary to popular belief this was never one of the choice vocations.

Let me save you a lesson in Human Nature,

NO ONE CAN BE TRUSTED,

Not the police who arrest the seller and not the buyer,

Not the spouse who comes home later and later,

Not the auctioneers who came months earlier,

Not the neighbor who threw the leftovers as we continued to hunger,

Not the man who raped and called himself a father.

Let me save you a lesson in life,

DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU,

We have been through pain too,

We have lacked too,

We are people too,

We have feelings too,

We need help too.

  2. Nice piece! Well done, well done! A very good combination of business with real life situations/experiences, like relationships, love, marriage, health etc. It real makes the message sink deep into someone’s kidneys (read upstairs/mind).
    Few things to note:

-You may want to replace sexuality (third stanza) with some other word. I will argue from two cases. If u used it to mean “attraction to other people”, then substitute it. But if you used it to mean “situations where monogamous beings have now been proved to be promiscuous or opportunistic in nature, and where procreation is not the aim” you can leave it there, because it relates well with the availability case in business.
-Stanza 7, given the current political scenario (wikileaks, Hague 6, succession politics, IDPs), it could be interesting to include one line about politics/politicians and how they are not trusted.
-The place of the customer/consumer, as the second beneficiary (from goods and services) of the business is missing. You may want to fix it at the end/as last stanza.
Sorry, those are my thoughts, especially with the short notice given. Hahaha! Good luck!

  3. What a poem. A head-scratcher, this one! A lot of home truths.

As an aside, why is the fella above talking of politics and other whatnots on a poem about prostitution?
